Hey guys, heres some info before suggesting what I should buy:

Budget = $1500 + tax(8.25% california tax)
Necesities:
1. Pentium maybe about a 2.8 gig would be nice HT would be a plus, but no Athlon( even if it is a 64)
2. Ok graphics, capable of playing cs, warcraft 3, diablo 2, unreal tournament 2004
3. At least 512mb RAM (DDR only)
4. At least a 15.4 in. screen
5. Windows media center would be nice but its really not neccessary
6. At least a 60 gig hard drive, hard drive speed can be anything
7. It would be great if I could buy this at a local retail chain such as Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, or Fry's Electronics.
8. Weight is not an issue.

Well guys those r my necesities for this laptop so please help me out here!
O and one more thing...I MIGHT be able to stretch the base budget by a hundred or two hundred, if and only if the laptop is worth it IMO.

No online?

Dell has the Inspiron 9100 for $1,399.

Its pretty sweet.

Base Model Includes:
Intel 2.80GHz Pentium 4 with HT
15.4"WXGA Wide Display
64MB ATI Radeon 9700
256MB 400MHz DDR Dual Channel Memory
24X CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive

This should play games nicely.

We use dells at work and we beat them up pretty badly.
(they are always in the field)
They do hold up well though.

I'd recommend a Pentium M model... i get some mad battery life from my dell 8600. I'd also recommend fitting a 7200RPM HD into your budget as that makes a huge difference in terms of perceived speed and responsiveness.

Well...battery life is not really a factor in my decision seeing that I'll only be taking it to and from my two houses and work where I can use the AC adaptor. But it terms of speed...how much faster would the compter be with a 7200rpm hard drive?

Huge improvement...hard drive is a major bottleneck, and the 7200RPM drives honestly make a noticeable difference even in opening up little things like Word & Outlook.

Get a Sager 8790

I have one of those beasts

But since it is out of your budget you could get a Sager NP5680 or the upcoming Sager 5690 which I think you should be able to snag for around $1800.00
