I tried to splice a male plug from a headset to another, same wiring (bare wire surrounding white & Bare wire w/red coated wire) but when I spliced them together no sound only voice. any help... Thanks

ALso trying to find an automatic a/b switch. I want to plug my cell phone and mp3 player together... When the cell phone is active the line automatically changes to it and then back to the mp3 player when the call is complete... Thanks for any help with either problem
