Well, the model number is VERY misleading.

I was surprised when I first saw it. But, it implies that only 1000 were made.

They didn't use headphones for professional recording when Nat Cole was alive. They started releasing stereophonic records in the late 1950's and those recordings were recorded in a single room with all instruments and vocals recording everything simultaneously and minimal if any isolating walls (in the sense of isolating vocals and drums the way they do today).
Nat Cole died in 1965 from lung cancer. The world lost an incredible talent.
