Ok, so it should be fairly simple. Turn off the laptop, connect a standard vga cable and audio cable from laptop to tv, boot laptop. Everything seems to work normally but for some reason I can't see video on the tv screen. I can hear the sound and the screen looks perfectly normal, but with a blank video screen. I have a group presentation tomorrow and this short videoclip I have to show is pretty important. Can anyone help me figure this out? I think the problem is software than hardware so there has got to be a workaround.

Btw, the programs I tried are VLC player and windows media player.

With my laptop to switch to my TV I have to perform a keystroke. I hold the "fn" button, which is next to Ctrl. While holding this I press F8.

Doesnt the Fn button's function depend on computers? Fn + F8 doesnt work on mine. I need to reboot.
