Speakers are better for pleasure trust me ^^

On a more serious note, you may want to try the AT-ES7 then.

No problem with the social atmosphere. I am ready for that.
Let me ask you are you at Harvard now? It sounds like you maybe.
As for the IEMs I will bring the ones I have yet I do want a desent closed set. Is thief a big problem at a school like Harvard?

I am not at Harvard, but I spend a lot of time there as 2 of my closest friends go there. I go to Wheaton College, a smaller school about 40 minutes away - big schools aren't my thing.

There are thieves everywhere dude.

You will want some isolation, especially if your roommate has speakers.

I started off college with the Denon AH-D1000. They've since been replaced with the AH-D1001, but the sound will probably be similar. It has a nice sized soundstage for a closed set of headphones, and are fairy bottom-heavy (which isn't a bad thing for rock in particular). The only downside is that while it doesn't leak sound, it doesn't isolate, either. You definitely won't be able to block sound out from your dorm (which is what I'm struggling with at this moment with the D2000!)

That's just being at college...make sure to lock your door when you leave, and make sure your roommate does the same. We had a rash of XBox thefts a while back...UMass students mainly, I think, with an Amherst accomplice. Mainly comes from people being dumb and leaving their rooms' doors unlocked. I have easily over $3000 of electronics in my room, and I've never had a problem.

I've been using an HD280 Pro for the last eight or nine years...lots of people here will tell you it's a personalityless or lifeless 'phone, but I still love them.

I know where Wheaton is I have a friend going there this fall I think.
I guess that was a stupid question I just thought it would be a little safer there.
SO I am right to get computer cables and lojack software for my mac book I guess

There are about 5 out there, I really like and are rated tops by the people who use them and people that test them
I am here to get different opinions especially for the 5 I have targeted.
You have to remember these will not be used in the studio just in my room for school work and pleasure.

Which ones do you have (IEMs)? Lets be sure you are not confusing with earbuds...or you are not misunderstanding what a really good IEM is.

"people who use them and people that test them" Be sure of your sources. I struggle to find even a decent review of a headphone online these days.

Not really, just don't be stupid. Always watch your stuff, lock your door, maybe get a lock for your laptop. You will be fine.

Congratulations on getting into Harvard! I've been a Berklee student for a couple of years. Boston is great, you'll love it here.

As for headphones, you'll likely want something that isolates well, since roommates can be noisy. I'd suggest a Senn HD280 Pro or Audio Technica ES7, whichever floats your boat. If you didn't know, try to stay away from popular brands like Bose and Skullcandy, since they're incredibly overpriced or prioritize form over function (respectively). If you could spend $50 more, I'd highly recommend the Senn HD25-1-II. It isolates very well, sounds great, and is built like a tank.

Berklee was my very first choice in colleges. From my first day in high school. I am good in music but I am not that good to get into Berklee. Going to Harvard is my dream but I still want to go to Berklee maybe graduate school.
I have ruled out the so call popular brands of head phones. I will check into the ones you gave me.
I was born in New Hampsure and left for the west coast when I was five. I have
ALWAYS missed the east coast. I can't wait to get back there.
Maybe we can meet someday.

Absolutely, we should meet up sometime! The apartment I'll be moving into in the fall is virtually right on the Berklee campus, very easy to get to from the Hynes green line T stop.

As for the pairs I suggested, they are good, but definitely do your research, and listen to some if you can. Guitar Center is a good place for that, since they're so common, and always have a bunch of random pairs available for demo. I actually went to one the other day, hoping that they'd have a pair of Ultrasone DJ1's available for demo. They didn't, but the guy took a brand new pair out of the box for me to try out anyway (they sound fantastic with electronic music, by the way).

Dude, Harvard is beyond Berklee in so many ways. I don't know how the music program is there, but... it's frickin Harvard, haha.

I'll PM you my Facebook so that we can keep in touch.

take this suggestion with a lump of salt, as i've never tried them, but the sony XB700's with an amplifier are supposed to be quite good. They are around $90, and I think you would be able to buy a do it yourself amp along with the headphones for something within the $150 range you listed. From what I've seen, sony headphones are always built very well and will easily last 4-6 years of normal use
