The kind of music I listen to is bachata. I prefer a pair of headphones that do good with percussion instruments .for me i like the bongos .closed or open ear. My budget is around $800 to $1600
What will you be pairing them with? Like, what will your source be? Do you want them to be portable or are you interested in a setup that is geared more towards home use?

Yeah,I forgot to mention I seriously dislike heavy bass and don't mind soft bass but I need a pair of cans that do really well with percussion instruments such as the the bongo drums. oh and again extreme instrument separation. If possible. Don't care if they have to be studio headphones.

Buke9 if in-ear earphones sound better than in-ear earphones but if headphones sound even better than headphones but my preference has always been in-ear earphones
