Hi everyone

after trying and being disappointed by these EPH 100 I happened to see that fakes were being sold.

Do you think I got a fake chinese copy?

These sound much worse than the Sony MH1C that I have, but cost me like 8x more.

Good way to tell is by looking at the recycling symbol. If it is very well-defined, that's a good sign.

This should help. I have one with the fake packaging found in this comparo, however my housings are much cleaner cut and closer to the real thing.

Well by looking at that link it would look as if I got a fake... packaging corresponds to the fake version, and also I have only 4 pairs of rubber tips, not 5 as advertised in the Yamaha official website. :(
The sound is what made me do some research.

Would you trust that website with the comparison? The ebay seller said not to trust it and that they sell original only.
But it doesn't look that way at all.

I would trust it. My pair is fake (I prefer the term replica), but for the 30 bucks I paid was well worth it. I like them quite a bit for relaxed listening, or when I need really good isolation. They're rolled off in both the treble and bass, but mids are detailed and smooth and they eq fairly well. If I paid legit EPH-100 prices I'm be pretty ticked, but at 30 CAD they were worth the cost and easily compete with other iems in that price range.
