Cantate and Cantate.2 are the same.
The Cantate.2 looks different on the top, that's all!

cantate: Meier Audio Corda Cantate - $570.00 : TTVJ, Todd The Vinyl Junkie

cantate 2: Meier-Audio

Useful to compare the technical details.

If I remember correctly the cantate 2 came out after the Symphony (which replaced the Opera) was introduced. They are a completely different class of head amp from the Opera. Skylab's comparison will give you a good start in understanding the differences.

Good luck!

On Skylab own words... "Opera is a SIGNIFICANT step above Cantate".

If you see at the specs, Opera can give double the current of Cantate (500 vs 250 mA) and I would say this is the main difference: Opera has a bigger/better power supply and higher power rating.

I had been talking to Jan about the difference between Cantate and Cantate.2 a couple of weeks ago - they are technically the same.
