Hello Head Fi,

I wanted to buy some headphones for GAMING and I came you here to decide between HD595 and AD700 but... you convinced me of the awesomeness of AD900 ( I hate you Head Fi, I hate you ! ) but I still have too questions:

- Is the soundstage at LEAST as good on the AD900 as on the AD700?
- Would you recommend me the AD900 as my first headphones?

You should be proud of you Head Fi, I am a gamer and I will buy a computer for my 18s birthday and you managed to make me renounce to my watercooling for a good soundcard + fons ... Not an easy task I must say

Are you using these headphones for gaming? In my opinion, I think the AD900 may be overkill for just gaming and you may be better suited with just the AD700.

Gaming and music certainly. I am now in a prep school so... no gaming

But in June I will build my own rig to enjoy vacations.Soundcard will probably be a X-Fi Hometheater by auzentech

But is the soundstage AT LEAST as good on the AD900?

I use the AD900 for both gaming and music and find the AD900 has lots of sound stage for gaming. I can't remember the soundstage of AD700 vs AD900, but the AD900 has accurate audio positioning. Very good for cod4 and CS. The AD900 also sounds real good for music.

I recommend it, although the AD700 has better value if you can get it for ~$90. The AD700 where I live is around $170 and the AD900 around $260. The $90 difference between AD700 and AD900 is worth it IMO.

AD900 is better than the AD700 in every sense. Depending how much you can get the AD700 for (eg. its very cheap in america from amazon), I'd recommend the AD900. Of course the AD700 may be more than enough for your needs, and if it is way cheaper than the ad900 locally go 4 it instead

I disagree, i dont think the price difference between from the 700 to the 900 is worth it. I have a pair or 700's and i tired my freinds 900. They sound almost identical but with the 900 having a bit tad more bass. I was glad that i have saved some cash and went with the 700 instead. I too wanted 900's while i had the 700's, but when i tried them i was not satisfied, especially the price difference. You wil be more than happy if you went with the 700's. The value for it is insane.

I own both and prefer the AD900 as it has more detail than the AD700. I bought the AD900 because I loved my AD700 though so that shows how good the 700 is. If you live in the US, the price difference is large enough between the 2 to say better deal is the 700. But if you live elsewhere and the difference not so large, I would get the AD900.

You might want to also note both of these require burnin to get the bass but this is doubly so with the AD900. It took about 200 hours before I started to really like my AD900.

I'll agree with pwnRhasta on the part that AD900 has more bass. Since its used for gaming that's already 1 option to get it over the AD700. What kind of music do you usually listen to? If its mostly bass heavy stuff its another plus point! Total up the pros for each headphone and you have your decision.
