For that budget, and taking into account that you really would benefit from a source better than your iPod, I would probably buy the HD650s and get a home amp + DAC combo such as the Cantate. At least I would be envious of this setup

In this case, you'd be listening via your computer, and assuming you have well-encoded music files, the results should be quite impressive compared to any conceivable setup using the iPod as a source.
