I was thinking under $1000 for headphones and amp.
Help choosing: HD595, HD650, Beyer 880, or some Grado?

In this case, you'd be listening via your computer, and assuming you have well-encoded music files, the results should be quite impressive compared to any conceivable setup using the iPod as a source.
