My AKG K601s decided to have a stroke and the right side appears to be dead. I did nothing violent to them, always treated well and never over-driven. Just picked them up after they worked fine last time, and: dead as a dodo.

Out of the 2 year warranty now.

I have the service diagram with instructions for pulling them apart, but I'm wondering if it's likely to be feasible to fix. I have no clue, so any pointers where to start and what to look for would be helpful.

Anyone?

You won't be able to tell if you can fix them without taking them apart. Test the internal wiring as best you can, and look for broken solder joints. If you can't find anything dead that you can re-solder or rewire, then your best bet is probably to send them to AKG to be fixed. How much this will cost and how good the service will be I don't know.
