Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a pair of headphones to give my sister (18) as a Christmas present! I'm looking at a price range of <$200 for the headphones. (On ear or over ear, no preference there)

I'm not too sure on her music tastes, though she really likes the Flaming Lips. (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is perhaps the only song in which our music "likes" overlap). I'm most likely looking for something that is durable, aesthetically pleasing, sounds good without any amplification, and portable. When in her dorm, she'll almost exclusively listen to vinyls.

I currently have 3 pairs of headphones myself (Sennheiser HD-595, Sennheiser Amperior, and Hifiman HE-400

), but I don't think any of them would suit her particularly well... and she'd almost certainly prefer a new pair anyways.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Haha I have that Innerfidelity wall of fame practically memorized by now

. The only ones I could possibly see working from there though is the Sennheiser Momentum... which is too expensive for a college student like me to afford >_<

I'll definitely take a look at the gift guide though. Anything particular you could recommend from there?

Edit: Oh god that On-ear Momentum looks amazing. Slightly over my budget, but perhaps I could get that to work.

I really like the Philips Cityscape Downtown which can be found well under $100.
