I also need suggestions on some good headphones from 200-300 as i am currently in the process of choosing sony, beats or sennheiser. As you can probably tell i am a teenager looking for a headphone that sounds good. At first i wanted headphones that had good bass because i thought it only enhanced how the music sounded and then while i was trying out my trittons, i heard Mids, highs and just enough low end and decided that i wanted a good balance in everything. Ive tried the beats pro , sony mdr x10 and the sennheiser hd280 and both the sony and beats sounded very close. the sennheisers sounded flat but i guess thats what i should expect right? But anyways give me suggestions for a starting audiophile headphone.

Are you looking for open or closed headphones?

Audio Technica ATH-A900X (closed) or ATH-AD900X (open) headphones, both sell new for around $200

Check out the JVC SZ2000 too.

Huge bass while maintaining the rest of the spectrum and great soundstage for a closed phone plus they are dual CNT driver.

Pair them with a decent amp about $100 and get ready for a iron fist in a velvet glove.

is there anything at bestbuy that i can try?

UE6000 will be on display (typically with Active Noise mode glued on) which has a boosted bass/treble which will recess the mids and muddy up the sound quality a bit. With it off it's fairly balanced.. highs aren't bright.. definitely a warm tone.

If your BB has a Magnolia.. you should be able to try Momentums (portable, sexy, bassy) A900x (closed, hard to keep on head) K550 (high detail, big stage, no bass), D600 (comfy, stylish, PRICEY, but has great sq) Martin Logans (too ugly for me to like) some open Sennheisers (soundstage, vocals, little bass)

With it off it's fairly balanced.. great details, very forgiving, punchy low end, smooth mids,, slightly recessed highs (good if you don't like it bright) narrowish soundstage.. all the characteristics of a typical Warm can.

..And Sexy if you're into high gloss plastic that doesn't sound like trash.
