Is it really true that the Sony CD3000s are out of production? If so, when did this happen? I'm one of the few ppl that can stop frequenting this forum and not buy any other headphone paraphernalia. If they're no longer produced, are they a collectable or something?

Yes, they are out of production, and were replaced by the SA5000 about a year ago.

The CD3Ks haven't reached collector's status but they are sought after and when one comes up for sale they don't stick around for very long.

They have been out of production for well over a year now. They haven't reached collectable status yet but their value in the used market has gone up.

The CD3000 like the R10 are long gone from production.

The SA5000 and the Qualia 010 are their respective replacements.

Of course, the Qualia 010 is on it's way out too.

suggests that Qualia will remain live and kicking in the USA as long as there is still demand. So, at least for now, it appears that the Qualia won't be phased out.
