Price wise, I'd say the JVC HA-FX700, or even the FX900 if you could afford it, also the ATH-AD500's or 700's. if you want closed then the A900's

denons would be a good choice also like other recommended

Headroom charged me extra 100$ for everything, UPS charged 50$, shipping cost 39, and tax so on so on. the Micro amp which was like 333 came down to 400 something. Headphonesolutions.com have some pretty good deals going on right now aswell.

Wait, what did they charge you extra for?

Grados sr60s are one of the most universally loved headphones here and for good reason. I'm not sure a guitar pre-amp will have the best sound quality and for the grados, you won't be needing it.

1001s are pretty nice too, but if you are looking for isolation, they don't do that too well despite being closed back, at least, from what I read.

Too bad you missed the blackfriday deal on the HD555.

Amazon is one of the best places to buy from in terms of cost though it varies from time to time.

Or try the head-fi "For Sale" forum. You can often find great deals on gear that's in great shape from fellow head-fiers.
