As I get into more competitive gaming I am going to need to start using teamspeak. In other words I need something with a mic. The questions is should I get a mic, or ditch my amped hd 580s (which I love) and get a decent headset. I can see no obvious reason to get the headset. Is there something I'm missing? Why doesn't everyone just get really good headphones and then a mic. What are the advantages of a headset?

I've been using a cheap headset for years.. but I've never tried the mic route. For me I'm just afraid the mic would pick up outside noise or not pick up my voice were I to move my head around.
