Headsave Go Vibe! and SR225's

I would lean towards the Burr Brown family of opamps. I've used the OPA2227, 2132 and 2137 in my Go-Vibe, as well as the Analog Devices AD8620 and AD8066. What they say about AD stuff and Grados is right, albeit a bit exaggerated. They tend to sound just a bit too bright and harsh.

I preferred the 2137 the best out of the Burr Brown stuff. It was the closest in sound to the OPA637, but without the super high price tag. Plus it gets even longer battery life with the Go-Vibe than the OPA2227 or AD8620.

I also liked the 2132 a little more than the 2227. The latter sounded a little too harsh in the midrange, and the slight tubbiness of the 2132 was a little more pleasing to my ears.

The AD8066 was the most bassy, but to me it was more of a one-note thumpiness, and not the smoother, all around more pleasing tone of the 2137.

Good luck!

the one I got from Norm is the JRC4556-- is it the same thing? This is the one that's dirt cheap, but sounds really good w/ Grados, right? I thought it sounded good too.
