Hi,

I hooked up my old Headsave Classic amp to a laptop PSU which was outputting 24.1 V (measured it) and it sounded broken. It hasn't been used for about 4 years. The original PSU was 24V 0.4A if I am right though but that one broke after a while.
I used a different 19.5V 4.62A laptop PSU now and everything sounds ok. Weird...
The thing is I think there was also a connector included with the amp for 2 9V batteries for portable use (18V in series) so it seems I can choose a certain voltage range. Did I possibly break anything, is it ok to keep using this one, what would you recommend?

This is the AMP:
