I have ordered a (used) Titan XL subwoofer (ACI Titan XL Subwoofer).
Could you help me choose the best hookup for my audio
inventory (http://www.audioc.com/library1/subsetupft.htm)?
I have a (1) preamp and (2) a speaker amp
(1) I have a headphone amp
(Page Not Found - HeadRoom - Right Between Your Ears...)
which can be used as a preamp, but I don't know if it will
be powerful enough for the Titan subwoofer.
(2) the speaker amp
(Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2).

I believe hookup 4 will be the best sollution, but I don't know if the HeadRoom Home amp will risk damage if connected to the sub.

From Aci support: "Our Titan XL is a powered subwoofer, so it requires just line level input signals and no additional amplification. Using the left/right outputs from your preamp will work just fine."

Through Head-Fi, I found out that it's not recommended to use the HeadRoom as preamp for my upgraded RWA Signature 30 (with volume know). It would only lead to degradation of the signal.

* Would it make any difference (enhance) if I add a preamp in the K1000 rig?
Answer: You're mixing things up: the Signature 30.2 has no pre-amp input. So whatever you do, you'll always go through the pre-amp stage of your current amp, unless you swap it out entirely.

* I know headphone amps don't need a preamp
Answer: I don't think you understand what a headphone amp is. Essentially a headphone amp IS a preamp, but most have a higher output current than normal pre-amps.

*anything with a volume know shouldn't be used as a preamp
Answer: Nonsense. If you want a separate pre and power amp, you'll soon find out the pre-amp has the volume knob.
