The headphones I'm considering are the Sennheiser HD 438 and Audio Technica ATH-M50. They both seem to have similar frequency responses, with M50's being slightly more responsive. The only BIG difference I can see between these two (other than it's appearance) is that the M50 can fold and comes in two cable forms, which the HD 438 comes with 2 cables that are detachable.

All headphones I've owned previously had neither of these two. Which do you think is more beneficial?

90% of all headphones I've owned previously has had the sound go dead in one ear due to issues with the cable, so I assume having a detachable cable would help with that problem, but I'm not sure if that would even happen to higher end headphones.

Also, can you recommend me a place where I can purchase either one of these headphones at a good price?

Have you considered the SRH-840? It folds, has detachable cables and a wickedly accurate response.
