I have a pair of Sennheiser 439 and i love them. for me they just aren't loud enough at times and they don't seem to catch certain lows that even my laptop speakers can. plus i want something new but  on under $100  i wanted to go  Superlux 688B but i heard those 2 need amplification  and frequency curves confuse me. any solid recommendations?

Give the noontech Zoro II HD a try. They can be found for under $100.  The they are on-ear so be mindful if that is a problem. I find mine fit very comfortably and have even turned the heads of a few vendors at  head-fi meets. They sound very even from bass to treble with a very engaging midrange.

Here is one recent quote about them from Bob Katz.

"Just before I left Sunday, Tyll showed me a pair of inexpensive Chinese phones that I think cost about $69.00 and reside in his wall of fame. Tyll, what model was that? I want to get a pair. These are perhaps the best cans I've heard under $300! They'd go great with my iphone. My previous "inexpensive" winners are the Sennheiser HD280 Pro: I own three pairs! Perhaps these Chinese cans beat the $95.00 280s. What a wonderful visit and what a wonderful discovery."

Thanks @NA Blur, on ears are not my thing because the pressure can get annoying. i'd be happy to hear any others. i'm looking for neutral to slightly bass heavy, good clamping force and doesn't need amplification
