Hello,

It is my first post here, so I would like to say hi everyone :)

Now I have headphones Sennheiser HD-598,

Source: ZERO Dac with Earth opamp.

Music: Metallica, Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Led Zeppelin, Offspring, Avantasia, Deep Purple.

I want headphones with good sound of guitars, fast and acurate bass.

Have Grado SR60 someday, and sell it.

Which headphones I should get ($300 limit).
Beyerdynamic 990 Pro, Grado SR225i or Grado 325is? Or maybe something different?

I would look into the DT990 and a used HE-400.

Very best,

The 990 Pro is 250 ohm only, and is cheaper than the Premium variant (32/250/600 Ohm). And yes, the dt990 does electric guitar much better than the 598, but not as good as 325is.

Metal wise, some bands sound better on the 325is, some sound better on the dt990 (I'm using the 600 ohm variant though).

Thx for reply.

DT 990 with impedance 32 or 250 Ohm?

It is better in guitar sound then HD598?
I want fun from listening, depth is not important.

All three choices you propose are very different from the Senns--except that they are all open cans.  Is that what you're after?  Do you like the 598?

The Grados are the most unSenn-like, so I'll go with one of them.  The safer of the two Grado choices is the 225, which is the most universally praised can in the Grado line-up above the entry level.  The 325 has better bass, clarity and build quality.  However, even a large number of Grado fans find its highs to be harsh.

The Beyer DT 990's the most colored of the 770-880-990 "family" of cans according to reviews and the the only "number" from this group that I have not heard.  Go with 770 Pro to give yourself a very comfortable closed can alternative to your Senns--and the most similar to the 990.  The 880's are the most accurate of the trio--some say too much so to the point of being clinical and unforgiving.

I would go the the Grado SR 325is because they are the most polar opposite of what your Senns give you and do a good job with the music genres you prefer.  However, reasonable minds can certainly disagree.

I quite like my HD598, and wanna keep them.
But I search more rock sound, more speed.

I had sr60 some time before, and sell them. I don't remember why, possible that for comfort issue.

Thank You very much for help.

I think that I choose dt990.
But what version get?
Pro, or premium one?
250 ohms with my Zero should work fine?

DT990 Pro 250-Ohm for now, down the line you can always sell off the Pros and upgrade to the Premiums.
I would describe the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm as full bass, full treble, with clear but average vocals.

The Ultrasone Pro2900 are very good sounding headphones and they offers deeper punchier bass and guitars sound amazing on them and mids, highs are very detailed on these.

Didn't like how beyer performed on heavy rock genres, Ultrasone headphones are more aggressive, too bad they are expensive where you live.
