So I like to raise the highs a bit so the sound doesn't seem so dark but for some reason when I hear music at loud volume with the highs raised it sounds unnatural and a bit annoying specially in songs with a long of things going on at the same time like you can barely enjoy the music.
 
Is this normal or do i have damaged headphones? I have the JVC SZ's, they are a bit veiled so it's normal to want to raise the highs a bit, but on some songs it really sounds bad to raise them... I have no problem raising the lows though so don't know if I have something damaged or maybe I'm just not supossed to raise the highs

Not all drivers respond to EQ well , you need a ideal set-up for that , perfect damping etc 
Then additional clipping will be less bothersome.
