Hi everyone

I'm new here, my name is Mario. I am audiophile, but I haven't posted to this forum yet, I don't know why. So, I need new headphones. I have read this thread http://www.head-fi.org/a/headphone-buying-guide and I have narrowed down my choice. It's either Sennheiser HD 598 http://www.head-fi.org/products/sennheiser-hd-598 or Beyerdynamics DT880 http://www.head-fi.org/products/beyerdynamic-dt-880-pro-250-ohm-semi-open-reference-headphone.

I currently use Sennheiser HD465, but it's 8 years old now and after replacing ear pads the sound has changed. Ear pads are thicked so my ears are father from speakers and earpads obstruct part of the speaker and the sound can't come out right. So I decided to buy new ones.

During the day I listen music on my Kurzweild KS-40 monitor speakers http://kurzweil.com/product/ks-40a/ and for me they sound fantastic. Before them I had some logitech speakers and this was really dramatic change for better.

I also have a cheap phono and hifi preamp Little Bear T7 https://www.amazon.com/Little-Bear-Turntable-Pre-Amplifier-Preamp/dp/B01GFDB720 so I can use it for headphones preamp.

I'll be also ordering this Mackie mixer https://www.thomann.de/gb/mackie_mix5.htm. So what are your recommendations about the headphones? The budget is around 200 dollars, if you have some other good headphone to recommend, please do, I will consider it.

If you've enjoyed the HD465 for so long, you might find the DT880 a bit of a shock - it's noticeably brighter-sounding and may stray into fatiguing territory for some people. The HD598 is the safer choice, although you can of course tame the highs on the DT880 using the mixer EQ.

I am not against change, as long as it's for the better. I have read that HD465 are quite bad headphones. In the end I decided to go with the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro. Something has come up and I can't afford to spend over 200 euros on DT-880. DT-990 seem comfortable and if the sound is really that bad, in which I don't believe, I can fix it with equalizer.

I considered buying Sennheiser HD 598 but the design is really awkward and they don't seem as comfortable as DT-990.
