But in the end i just really want to buy the best quality stuff for the price range unless for a few more bucks there is something of much superior quality. Would the K81DJ's be far better than sen hd 280 or hd 555? ANy other recomendations??PLS

The K81 and the Senn HD555 have very different sounds, as the K81 is closed while the 555 is open. I liked the open sound of the HD 555 over the HD 280 when I had the opportunity to try both, but haven't compared either to the k81 (yet).

If you need closed 'phones, the k81 is a good bet, but if you don't, you may want to look at the HD555.

K81DJ has quite small soundstage, so it isnt ideal for gaming. They do deliver more than enough bass though.

I been doing some searching and this company by the name of Grados sounds pretty good. I was wondering how would it compare K81DJ to some Grados SR80 of the SR125?? I just want the best quality for around 100-120 bucks.

Question open headphones means that what Im listening other can listen to it so like the grados will people be able to listen to my songs even at a low level????

Yes you can hear sound from the outside, but i doubt you would share with your friends like that. the sound level is very small, it just leaks. and plus, your running off an ipod. not very high quality, plus youll have problems driving the phones very well. for gaming i'd go with the senn 555. get the lower ohm version, so you dont have to worry about an amp.

Grado with the hp414 pads will look like this

Ugly!

But I dunno how they affect the sound compared to the normal pads.

What music do you listen to anyway, I think that would be a large factor.
Grados are great for rock and metal and the senns for softer music.
