Can I be advised on what headphones are best for casual high resolution listening and/or recording on a lower budget? Keeping in mind something that will not cause listening fatigue over a long session. I've been considering the sony mdr v6 or ath m40x.

I'm sure we can find something for you. What music do you like? Do you have an amp? Budget?

At the current price I don't see how you could go wrong with the m40x unless you go used.

For rock and under 100.00 the Grado 80e should be at the top of your list. Best headphone under 100.00 IMO.

Alright. Just looking for something that will give me the best natural experience the way that it was intended to be heard without becoming harsh and fatiguing after awhile. I've been getting many different opinions understandably as it is a personal preference, so deciding has been difficult without being able to try out a variety of options in person.

Even though the frequency response is only 20-20000hz? I've heard the build is not reliable over time as well.
Unless you are buying headphone for a whale or your dog 20 to 20k is all you need. Humans cant hear beyond that range.

Unless you plan on having your dog wear these,20-20k is plenty. Build quality is tried and true, but not without faults.Thick cable and on-ear cups being my two personal dislikes.
The sound is highly customizable with a quick and easy changing of the pads. They have a very forward guitar presentation giving guitars a satisfying texture and chunkyness when called for.

I did a quick video review of these a awhile back

I don't really know Grado. I heard one pair a while ago and liked it but I don't know which model.

So you'd recommend the 80e over 60e? Is there much difference?

As i mentioned in my review the 80e and 225e seem to be the best bang for the buck in the SR series. Is the 60e terrible? No. But I feel the difference in price is warranted vs the 80 and 225e.The sound signature is consistent across the board.
