if it has RCA connectors, you need 1/4" or 1/8" (depending on your headphones) to RCA adaptor

hook the tv/dvd player's line out to your receiver/amp. Plug phones into middleman, and viola.

post what size/type connections the TV has on the back of it (A pic would be nice) and I can show you where to plug them.

Right now I use My headphones for my tv. I use the Variable Line out on the back (2x RCA's) to a RCA to 1/8 converter to a 10' Headphone extension to the line in on my AV710 then out to my headphones. Its not pretty but it works for my needs
