I'm listening to my first Grados right now....the SR60. For your genre, I think you'll like the HD595. It's got a lot more bass and soundstage for those quiet ambience moments. It's also got more brightness then a typical Sennheiser for those moments that are hard core (right now, I'm hearing my 595s do have crisper drum beats then the SR60). Since I haven't tried high end Grados yet, I only assume they get better resolution (untill you get into the more expensive models that add soundstage). So I think the HD595 is the best step up in the ring of upgrades!

Post Rock soudns awesome on any set of headphones in my experience. But within your budget, I'd grab a pair of Ergo 2s.
