haven't tried the pcx38x but the pc37x are great. Extremely comfortable with great sound. If you're not including source gear in the cost and don't need a built in mic I'd say the Beyer 600 ohm DT880's are killers, exceptional sound stage and imaging. My personal favorite sub $200 headphone, however I would say they need an amp/dac and the lower impedance models are not quite as good
