Hello, everyone. I'm looking for some new headphones and would really appreciate some recommendations.

My music library is basically just female vocals, mainly acoustic/indie/folk/rock.

Current favorites being -
Laurel
Emma Ruth Rundle
Chelsea Wolfe (Birth of Violence)
Mamiffer/mara

My current setup is -
Hifiman He500
Magni 3 + Modi 3

Budget is around 1,500 usd.

Thank you.

My he500s have been incredible.

Maybe Aryas would be a good upgrade?

I love the HD650s for female vocals. Female artists like Morgan James, Adele, and various others sound great. I've used it with the Schiit Jotunheim and Monolith Desktop Dac/Amp running balanced cables.

I actually sold my 650 in favor of my he500, haha.

Thank you for the recommendation, though.

I'll start looking into them. Thank you!

The original ATH AD2000s(non-X-version) are famous for the way they portray female vocals. Its almost spooky.
Unfortunately theyre nearly impossible to find anymore. Fortunately(for you) Im selling my pair.

Here is a comprehensive review of them from way back.

I would probably try them, but I don't know if I trust myself with the fixed cable, haha.

Hi @illyria,

I listen to a lot of female vocals myself so I hope you find these useful.

I suggest the following in no particular order :

Neumann NDH 20
iBasso SR 1
Acoustic Research AR 1
Sony MDR 1AM2

Feel free to ask more when you need.

Hope you have a great day !

HD600 and HD650 are pretty universally known as some of the best headphones for vocals.

I listen to female vocals often and my go to is my HD800s and Arya. You should not pull the trigger until you listen to or consider these.

I mainly listen to female vocals.
From Agnes Obel and Brittney Slayes over Keri Noble, Medina, Miley Cyrus, Sarah Jarosz to Simone Simons and Sharon den Adel.
Except squeaky voices. :)

My main headphone is the Quad Era-1, but for some vioces i prefer the very clean sounding Pioneer Monitor 5.
This belongs to the state of mood i am in.

I actually liked female vocals on the sony z7m2, dt1990 pro and on my b&oh6(gen2). I tried female vocals on a hifiman arya and they were pretty good too.
