Hi guys,

A friend of mine is looking for a pair of headphones around the $70 price range. The only thing I could think of is the Grado SR-60 but I've been out of the loop for awhile now and I'm not sure what else is out there. I've tried the Grados, they aren't bad for entry headphones and probably have more bass than equivalent Senns so that would suit him I think.

He listens to mostly pop and rap and is somewhat of a bass head. He has tried the Sony V6s and thought they weren't bad.

Any suggestions for headphones around the price range? Open/closed is fine.

Sennheiser eH 150's. can't beat that price, and I had them for close to a year before I felt the need to upgrade. Sweet introduction 'phones.

Kind of leaning towards the 485s because most users find them to be very comfortable. He said he really liked the comfort of the V6s. The eH 105s look like the 497s I have and those aren't really comfortable IMO. Some people complain about the clamping force of the AKGs but it sounds like it has a large following (97 page thread?

V6's are nice, but they are not really "fun" headphones, their sound could be kind of cold. I like the Grado SR60's for modern music because they add a sparkle, or life to the music. For pop and rap he will most likely enjoy the SR60 more, especially if he is somewhat of a basshead.

Really, really shameless, and I think your friend would be better served by the Grados...if he does lean towards the HD485, I can better serve it. Check my sig.
