So I have just gotten into computer gaming and thus built myself a gaming computer. I have wireless headphones for in game sound but they aren't cutting it. I really want 5.1 surround but if I use wired headphones I will need to run a cable around my apartment. I was thinking about using an Ethernet cable and making a breakout box on both ends. Do you guys think that this would work for audio? My other option would be a much bigger cable that would contain the 6 wires I would need for audio and microphone. Which I would actually have to buy instead of using existing cables that I have.
