I'd like to buy some full sized headphones under $100. After some research here at head-fi I've narrowed down a list of possible choices but I'm a total headphone newbie so I need help. Any other good headphone suggestion would be great!

As for sound, I mostly listen to classic rock, blues, and r&b but any headphone that could work in other genres would be great.

My list:

Takstar Pro 80 / Gemini HSR 1000
Takstar 2050
Sony MDR-7506 / V6
Superlux 681
Senn Momentum on ears
Creative Aurvana
Senn 280
Shure 440
Grado SR60i
ATH M50
AKG 240
Audio Technica ATH-AD700

Thanks!

Thanks for your responses! I think I want closed to semi-closed headphones. So for the short list I have:

ATH-M50
SHP-9500
AKG-550
Fidelio L1
Takstar 80

Any comments on which of those?

The Philips SHP9500 is an open headphone, so cross that off your list.

(Any reason why you want closed?)

I haven't heard the others yet, but have heard good things about them all.

I have the CHC Silverados and I think the are great for rock, They are closed-back and have metal construction which gives them a certain sound that I really like for rock. I got mine for $50 new but I have no clue what they go for now. They retail for $200.
