Whereas you can generally find lists of all popular full-size closed headphones (for example), either from just doing a search at stores like Headroom, or else lists at reviews sites. in contrast tube headphone amps seem to come from a variety of sources, and seem to be inconsistently reviewed.

So, I could use a short list of the more popular tube headphone amps under $300.  DIY is possible if necessary.

In other words, what are the ATH-M50, and HD555 of inexpensive tube headphone amps ?

You're talking about tube amplifiers, but what about hybrid? There are many hybrid DIY amplifiers at this price point.

The Bijou is $200 for a kit from glassjar and then another $80 for the transformer. It's supposed to sound really nice as well. I'm still trying to decide on an amp to build.

The Bottlehead Crack couldn't be simpler to put together, and it sounds incredible.  It is an OTL amplifier designed for higher impedance cans (120+ ohm), however, so keep that in mind.  I absolutely LOVE mine paired with my Beyer DT880/600 premiums.
