Thatight be for four of them...

Are you requesting pricing directly from Thomas at Elrog?

Are you talking about a quad of ER300-MO?
Or where did you get that price from?

300B price gouging is getting ridiculous, for both amplifiers and tubes. For that price, that money would be better spent commissioning a custom amplifier with better transformers, which will have a greater impact on the sound. And transformer don't have a finite lifespan.

Yea I agree. I would comisson a 2a3 and 45 amp for that price and have lots of different flavours instead.

Over 4 grand U.S. for a pair of tubes? Is that a typo?
It is the TM version so not sure. (Built with unobtanium :) )

The ER300B-Mo are 2,520 euro so that is the confusion.
Might as well go for original WE 300Bs for the price of the TM300B .

The TM801A cost €2,550 a pair. I can't see how the material cost is significantly different, so the difference is the 300B is more popular than it's ever been in the last 20 years.

I know others don't see it this way since they are not into DIY necessarily, but here's how I look at it: I have a transformer order pending from Intact Audio. For $4,000, I am getting a pair of 2W output transformers, two pairs of 20mA gapped interstage transformers, a pair of 30mA gapped 1:1 line output transformers, and a set of four LCR chokes. That's eight transformers and four chokes, all permalloy cores wound by one of the most talented transformer makers in the world. Or one pair of tubes.

In the US you will not pay the 19% tax so it is less than 4$K, closer to $3K.
If the WE are what you are looking for in a 300B and they have the sound you may prefer, save some money and snag those. I really ike the Elrog ER and MO and wanted the version Thomas liked best.
I would never buy a power cord or pair of IC's for $3-4K but others might.
We all have our priorities and where we want to spend our money

You are an experienced amp builder and these transformers and chokes are what you may choose to build X component. I do not build amps so these would be nice pieces of some of the best iron on the planet and of no value to me.

I understand that, but a custom amplifier maker could use these components. $4,000 goes a long way.
