La voce. I like vintage stuff. I find them to have the best sounds. Got them for $500!!Out of interest, what speakers are you driving with the Studio B?

Since our conversation the other day I've been searching for the AVVT's. There's a pair on eBay, but they want too much for questionable lineage. I'll keep searching.Anyone here heard the AVVT 300b to compare to WE or TAKs? I have AVVT myself. Thinking of getting TAK or maybe to new elrogs
Still have the WA5, yes. I don't know about the Sophia Blue Glass 300B (although I do have a pair of their Aqua 6SN7), but the Royal Princess 300B Mesh are just way too microphonic for my taste. That and they sound like wind chimes for at least a half hour after startup.Well I have to say I love the sound of them. Far superior to the EML mesh that I have and better than the WE electric too IMO. Do you know if the Sophia blue glass 300b is also microphonic like the royals?
I'm looking to try out new flavours of sub 1000 dollar 300b, they are at a nice price and maybe aren't as laid back as the meshes I have.
Do you still have your wA5?
Thanks for the Tipp. I'll keep a look out for those? Any nice stories to tell about the sophia 6sn7 blues ?Still have the WA5, yes. See if you can find a pair of KR Audio 300B Riccardo Kron Anniversary Edition 300B's used in the classifieds. They were my previous champs until the Elrogs.
Honestly, no. To my ears, they're nothing special. I've said for the past couple of years now that the best 6SN7 are not 6SN7s at all. Between the Melz 1578, Tung Sol, Sylvania, and National Union 6F8G, and the RFT 6H8C Ceramic plate, there are very few 6SN7 that I use (RCA Grey Glass being an exception). Thanks for the Tipp. I'll keep a look out for those? I have the 6f8g and the ken rads .... Love the Ken rads more to be honest but my drivers are worn I bought them 2nd hand and need to get some backs ups.Honestly, no. Yep the v2 bass is excellent. With my pro iCan with 2c51 tube upgrades and especially the wa5. I feel the impact of the bass slam on my head and it doesn’t lose in any other parts of the frequency response.
Finally got around to flipping the tube sockets around.
This was however not primarily motivated by aesthetic reasons but a need to clear up some space inside the chassis for... something, that should arrive in a couple of weeks.
Have to say the HE1000V2 has really surprised me. They have crazy good quality and quantity of bass even though some people say it's not a basshead hp. Maybe they didn't drive it properly.
I feel the same way about the HD800S on the Envy and Folkvangr! Certainly not “bass head” but I don’t find it lacking in the slightest.
