Headphone sightings in Lost in Translation

i thought they looked like philips of some kind but i'm not sure.

i don't think so. the one's she wears have the headband connecting at the top of the earpiece. triports connect at the apex of the earpiece if i'm not mistaken.

I noticed them too, I was thinking lower end sony's...
I watched the movie with headphones btw... excellent soundtrack, almost like a pulse.
It gives the movie a smooth flow which makes it great to hear and watch IMO.

..and the answer is: bose quietcomfort noise cancelling headphones (model 1, not the current model 2). a quick google found me a couple of pictures of the original model:

If you get the Bose, go for the Quiet Comfort 2. I do believe they are the best of the noise reducing headphones. If you want isolating headphones instead, the V6 is a cheaper alternative. Still others like canal 'phones such as the Ety 4P, but I think it is uncomfortable for long travel (the QC2 are super comfortable.)
