With 90 votes in (after some 300+ votes in previous rounds), the winner of the 2008 Head-Fi Headphone Shoot-out is:
The Stax SR-007 with 57% of the votes
over the Sennheiser HD650 (43% of the votes).
Congratulations to the Stax and R E S P E C T to the other headphones in the top 3 (HD650, RS1, DT880) which combined probably cost less than the Stax.
How to interpret the results?
Well, if you've got the dough, definitely audition the Stax - it has many loyal and passionate fans over here.
If you are on a tighter budget, it's hard to go wrong with one of the other headphones in the top 4 (or top 8 for that matter) and it boils down to personal preferences.

Perhaps next year, we should do this with 2 or 3 different price categories...
