Hi Everyone,
 
I am quite new to Head-fi, been reading for years, but I have been a big user of headphones for a few years now and am a firm believer that there has never been a better time for headphones, they used to be considered as a second best to a full blown hifi system but now the quality is so high they are a real alternative, offering a more personal and insightful listening experience, in may cases for what you spend on a pair of headphones you would have to spend many thousands more to replicate that quality of sound from a speaker. Some people think that something like the Stax SR-009 is crazy money for a headphone, at just under £6000 with its energiser, but when you put that in context and think that this is probably the very best that is available in the world today then it isn’t too bad when you consider how many 10’s and 100’s of thousands of pounds you can spend on hifi kit, then there is what people spend on top watches and cameras, they are almost a bargain
 
Even though I’m a big supporter of quality headphones it really has been a genuine surprise and pleasure how successful our headphone room has been, I think when we first started that room it was the one gamble that I wasn't sure would work but momentum steadily grew to the point now where it is the busiest room in the shop. Bearing this in mind we have decided to start a separate headphone company concentrating on High End Headphones, more on that later though, the website is being designed and will hopefully be ready to launch for the headphone open day on November 16th.
 
For the Open day we will be running 2 headphone rooms upstairs and one Hifi room downstaris featuring some streaming and vinyl, I’m sure there will be a headphone amp hooked up to it somewhere though.
 
For the Open day for anyone who comes in they will be put in a draw for a chance to win a Pair of HiFi Man HE-400 headphones and an Omega headphone stand + we will be running this as part of a Sennheiser Club Orpheus promotion meaning that for one day only there will be up to 20% off any Club Orpheus models, please see prices below, we will also have representatives from Stax and HiFiMan on hand to answer any questions. I just wanted to update this with some of the latest info regarding our headphone open day in a couple of weeks, basically as well as giving a way a pair of HiFiMan HE-400’s to one lucky person and offering up to 20% off Sennheiser Club Orpheus products we are also offering special prices on any of the HiFiMan range of headphones and amps that are bought at the open day or within 7 days of the event, we are also offering the same promotion for any of the Stax Products so please feel free to get in touch for more information.

Regarding the Open day, Stax and HiFiMan will be bringing along some extra pairs of their headphones so there should be plenty to go round as I know once you’ve got the Stax SR-009’s on you really don’t want to take them off, I now also have the HiFiMan EF6 amp on permanent demo so you can really hear the HE-6’s at their best which really is quite a rare thing and certainly not something to miss.
 
Finally I am in the process of talking to Burson Audio regarding their excellent headphone amps so hopefully we will have the Conductor and Soloist amps on demo for the open day.

In readiness for our Headphone open day this Saturday I have added a couple of new products which I am busy running in, firstly I added the HiFiMan EF-6 amp as I am a big fan of the HE-6's but as everyone knows they are a challenge to drive so I wanted to add the EF-6 to show them at their best, and as a EF-6/HE-6 combo for just over £2000 I think that is quite tough to beat.
 
I also wanted to add a brand that really concentrates on headphone amps as their main business, a specialist if you like, so after much research I decided to take on Burson and now have the Soloist and Conductor on demo.
 
Finally to finish of my Stax range of headphones I added the SR-507's for demo as paired with the SRM-006ts they make a pretty potent combo.
 
Really looking forward to Saturday, I have decided to set all 3 dem rooms up with a selection of amps and sources so people can just grab a pair of headphones and listen.

I meant to add that I now also have the T+A DAC8 on demo which makes for a high-end DAC/headphone amp and with the 4 different filters to choose from is pretty configurable, it's a beautifully built piece of kit I have to say, I'll make sure that it is up and running on Saturday also.

Nothing yet unfortunately, I was promised concrete news late this week by the UK distributor so I will chase them tomorrow if I don't hear anything today.

Also what time are you opening on Saturday? I'd like to get in early so I can spend some quality time with the gear and hopefully make it to a pub in time to watch the AB's demolish the poms.
