Headphone Frequency Range

I kinda stop hearing stuff above 13~14khz. But my computer is very LOUD.

I should make a custom CD with sweeps from 0hz-20khz and listen to it in a quiet room.

that's what i wanted to know too...
hmm..i'll check that site

so I was listening to the sine waves on my HD201 here at the school lab and it confirmed, well partially (I should use a better source), some of my suspicions. The wave forms seemed to go back and forth (like 5kHz is barely even firing out of one of the drivers). I thought it meant I was partially deaf, but when I reversed the cans on my head, the deafness switched sides. Thanks for sorry driver matching, Senn! These cans can drive me crazy sometimes, but now I know it isn't just me.

Also, I couldn't hear the 20khz (though I've checked in the past and I can hear the mosquito tone pretty easily). gonna get better gear for another listen at home. holding out for gear and not my hearing-obliterating listening habits from my pre-headfi days.

Am I wrong when I think that listening to a sawtooth sweep or some sine waves is a good way to see if your drivers are firing in a roughly equal fasion?

One way, which I use to play certain frequency sounds is to download a program such as Test Tone Generator. Just google it.

how do you know that? did you click each of the buttons on that site and you couldn't hear what's over 16khz?

that's weird to me cause i could hear everything there except the 20 hz bass (but i used some really really old/bad sone earphones

I used NCH Tone Generator with crappy PX200 though. I cannot hear anything under 25Hz either.

ok, so it's that simple? the device sends an output signal 10hz, 20hz, 100hz, 20000hz and if you can't hear that you can't hear those frequencies, right?

hmm..not very complicated....but i think the volume counts too, isn't it?

IMO, the wider the freq. resp....
...the better.
I remember thinking my hearing must be average...
...until I tested it.
I'm in the same boat as Piccolo.

BTW, don't assume your ears/mind can't hear a freq. just because you stop hearing it come from your speaker/phone...
...lots of speakers/phones have huge roll-offs @ around 16K...

Also, music is more than what you hear clearly, it's also what you feel.
And human beings feel(if not also hear) frequencies way outside of 20hz-20khz

I think 4hz-40Khz is more suitable.

Here is another frequency testing website, this one allows you to map you personal "hearing curve". Enjoy.

i discovered this site yesterday

and my curve is the same as the..."normal"/"average" one

I can hear even over 22Khz but it's not a thing to be happy with...
At night, even when I shut everything off, I can hear certain electrical devices beeping and when I ask my mom or someone else, they can't hear it :x

The only person I've met which could was a friend of mine and one thing is for sure... a Sony VAIO laptop is a beeping maniac lol. (he owned a sony vaio)
