Hi,
I got a little problem and I wonder what you guys would do. (plz read

)
I play games and listen to mp3's on my computer with a x-fi xtreme music. Now I have ordered a HD555, because I didn't like the sound of the PC150. But the webshop has just delayed the order.
So now I was thinking, maybe I cancel the HD555-order and use my px100 instead for the computer. Because all of a sudden I'm not that sure if a (80euro) HD555 will really matter in games or 192kb mp3's...
I got a px100 for my mp3player, but I use my cx300 a lot more for it... So I was thinking that I could go buy a plantronics switchbox so the px100-cord would be long enough. And use that for gaming and mp3...
Do you guys think that is a better idea?

Summary: what's is best in combination with a x-fi for just gaming and mp3: a px100, (a pc150) or a HD555?

I hope you guys understand. You already helped my a lot once!
Thank you!

The consensus is that for gaming you need headphones with good soundstaging, something that supraaural cans like PX100s struggle to achieve. I'd stick with the HD555s.

Take a look at this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...&highlight=buy

I want a headphone to plug into my soundcard and listen to mp3s and I don't play shoot-em-up video games
The Sennheiser HD 555 is good for this.

I want to listen to listen to mp3s and play First Person Shooters
You can't go wrong with the Audio-Technica Art series just pick the one for your budget: ATH-A500, ATH-A700, ATH-A900

For games, Audio Technica Ax00 serie is hard to beat. (note, A not AD) One of most recommended headphone serie for computer use.

Why would the HD555 not be good for shoot-em-up's?
@ gotfrag HD555's are heaven
The A500 are still about 20% expensiver or too hard to get....

I don't know for sure because I don't play that kind of games and I never had the chance to try Audio Technicas. I guess it has to do with directional sound; I imagine it's probably easier to know where the enemies are if you are using the Audio Technicas. But no one is saying that 555s are bad for shoot-em-up's; it's simply that there is a better alternative. If that alternative is harder to find or more expensive, maybe it's worthy for you to stick with the 555s. I use my 555s to play games like Civ or 1701 A.D. and I am happy with them.
