I have been searching around the forums for a while, but couldn't find much about this.

What cables do people like to use when they are planning on braiding them? I just finished recabling my HFI-780 and found it tedious to remove all of the insulation and shielding from a long mogami cable... Is this what people generally do? Take something like mogami or canare and prepare for braiding, or is there another alternative that isn't too pricy? Where can you find such a thing? Soon, I want to make an even longer cable for my HD650 (which I would also like to braid,) but if I can avoid needing to remove all of the extra padding to get to the individual conductors, that would be great.

Most people just buy individual wires.

Stripping a quad cable to get at the wires is the most time consuming way to do it. Short of buying your wire from charlatan audio, INC it is also the most expensive.

Look up navships.

If you dont mind bright colors you can often find "partial spools" of teflon wire for reallllllllllly cheap on ebay.

Thanks! I'll be sure to look into that.
