I'm looking into redoing my cable for my AKG K1000.

Do you guys think 20ft is too long a cable?

Anybod got any recommendations about which cable to use (brand, specs)?

I don't see any reason to go beyond maybe 9 or 10 ft, but whatever floats your boat. For ICs, at least, HGA super silver is some of the best, but its not cheap(aprox $10/ft) and while much more than many cables, its not too flexible.

Canare Star Quad might be worth considering.

I would not worry too much about that lenght as long as the cable is a quality one and the headphone amp is up to driving it
