Just a question about burn-in..
Is the effect permanent or does the headphone revert back to it's original state after a long period (two months) of non use?

Burn-in softens the speaker so it is indeed permanent.

Yes, according to Patrick82, you need to let them warm-up for awhile if you haven't used them in awhile, or something to that effect.
