Hi - having got back into listening to CD music recently my antique CD player died & I bought a new Marantz intending to just use its headphone socket (with its own volume control) The sound is much better than my old CDP but I would like to have some control over the audio which on some CD's is a bit "bright" or "harsh" etc

Dedicated headphone amps just appear to have volume controls & not tone controls - certainly in the lower price range AFAICS (?)
If I was to buy an integrated amp with headphone out will the amps tone controls work with the headphone output & give me the control I am after (?)
If this is the case would this be true of all integrated amps or only some (?)

labrat - thanks for that - I asked this question elsewhere (local hifi dealers) and I was told amps by Arcam allow control of treble / bass / balance when using headphones - any Arcam owner(s) able to confirm this? Is it ALL Arcam amps or just certain ones?
