I know this question has been asked before in other forms, but I'm still confused. I want to hook my AKG1000 amp to a minimax pre. On an integrated amp, I would turn volume all the way up and control volume with pre. Do I do the same thing with the headphone amp?

I'm hoping to get a bit of the tube sound by using the pre. I also don't have to switch dac ics from pre to headphone amp.
