Hi Folks,

short Intro...
I´m moved to a new Flat and took this as an opportunity to get myself a brand new audio setup.

I´ve planed to start with...
DAC - Cambridge Audio DacMagic
Head-Amp - ? (used to tend to the Darkvoice 337)
Headphones - Beyer DT990/600
...and continue with...
Pre-Amp - Vincent SA-31 MK
Monoblocks - Vincent SP-996
Speakers - ELAC FS 247

why is this in the Headphone Amp section...
Well, after i heard the Beyer DT990/600 at my colleagues place, i have no longer any doubt which can fits me best ... now i´m desperately looking for a headphone-amp and stumbled over the Audio-gd Phoenix Review. Browsing through the pages, i always recognized that people are really "pleased" with his qualification as a preamp ... this is where i started to think i could kill two birds with one shot.

what i "need" from you...
...your experience with head-amps used as pre-amps for your speaker-setup. I´ve got the audio-gd phoenix on my list and if i had to decide now this would be my new gear ... but i´d like to hear some alternatives from you and your generally opinion about using the head-amp as pre-amp for something that should sound really decent.

what price range are we talking about...
i thought i´ll spend ~$1000 on the head-amp and ~$1000 on the pre-amp ... so it would be great if we can find something for about $1000-$1500.

Thank you for your input !

cheers
