Hi

I'm looking at purchasing my first set of full size headphones.

Currently I am using Westone ES2 so Im looking for something that would give the same sound quality or better.

My source is a Iriver HP140 -> ALO Jumbo Cryo X Silver -> Hornet. I also have a SuperMicro on order and about to order the iBasso D1.

I mainly listen to folk, indie pop/rock, alt-country.

I've only ever used IEMs before so don't really know where to begin with full size ones. Could someone recommend me something?

Thanks
Steve

Hi, Steve, welcome to Head-Fi!

If your headphone experience must include a realistic kick drum and a realistic electric bass, I'd say: look into the Beyerdynamic DT990 (open) and the Denon D2000 (closed). (I've only known the former first-hand, but I hear the D2000 is very close to my D5000 as far as SQ/sonic signature.) Both are in the $300-350 range, if I'm not mistaken. For more cash, I'm very happy with the ones in my sig below.

Caution: I'm not familiar with your equipment.

Good luck!
