Hi all,

My First post here (hopefully it's not an annoying question)- bear with me

I'm looking for some cool headphones and after some research I have come up with some things I would like:

Closed headphones- It can be a bit noisy sometimes where I live, I love the idea of open cans but it doesnt seem the best plan.

Interesting looks- I LOVE the look of the Grados- Didn't they do some in wood once? Beautiful.

Does not need lots of driving- my budget isnt very huge 100-150 GBP.

Can deal with my laptop- I have an oldish Sony Vaio that makes an annoying whining sound, any ideas on how I can get past this?

I listen to--> Mp3s ( 320k and the odd FLAC) and movie.! Music wise- Trip hop/ hip hop/ electronic stuff, lots!

Perhaps noise cancelling- But I hear that these make a whining noise in quiet situations.

Exciting soundstage.

oh no not again

The ES7 ticks a lot of boxes (I'll never get tired of recommending it

) except for the soundstage, which is nothing special. search around on this forum (or the special ES7 thread) for more info.

is the Vaio whine related to fans/harddisk? or from the headphone output. If the latter, consider an external solution, otherwise, get the dust out.
