I agree.

If you're capable of extending your budget, the Grado SR-60 would be your best bet. But from what I understand, you won't be able to. The Koss KSC-75 is perfect then.

Oui, le Grado est fantastique aussi. Et si tu achetes les a utilisés, les SR-60s ne sont chers pas.

I'm surprised - no recommendations for K81 DJ? I've read lots of people comparing it to the MS1/SR60 level for quality (some even say it's the best <$100 can), and it's closed with good isolation. Apparently quite well-suited for rock. It sells for around $69 from Headroom, and I'm sure it sounds worlds better than the XD200 or HD201/202 (all three are crap imho).

Sorry for your walet. I started with 85$ SR-60s and I have constant upgraditis. I recommend a used set of SR-60s or PX100s.

In Canada, where our french compatriot lives and I as well, a SR60 retails for around 119 dollars and the K81 around 80.

Down in the States, I imagine that they're priced pretty evenly.

Manchau, You should feel lucky to skip all the crap headphones out there. Personally I have to say it's a toss-up between Grado SR60 and AKG K81 if you expand your budget by $9.

Closed: AKG K81
Open: Grado SR60

I'm a newbie like yourself and just dove into a set of Sennheiser HD-201's and from a rookies point of view there pretty amazing. They have a nice balanced sound a good bass extension.

I'm from Canada as well and paid 38 bucks total, shipping and all for a new set off ebay. Awesome deal.

This site will get you though, I've been here for a week and I'm already looking at a set of either Grados or HD-580's!
